What happens if you miss Withers BG3? ›

However, it isn't necessary to find him and open his sarcophagus in order to have him arrive at camp. If the party doesn't come across Withers in the Dank Crypt, then it's a matter of time until he shows up at camp anyway with an exclamation point over his head to explain the services he offers.

Withers is first encountered in the Dank Crypt - an ancient temple of Jergal. He can be found resting inside a sarcophagus within the hidden room. Once freed, he will ask the party a cryptic question and then leave.

One thing to remember is that interacting with Withers or responding to him in any manner will not affect the gameplay in Baldur's Gate 3. There are no right or wrong answers when you interact with him in this role-playing game.

Withers can be found at the Dank Crypt, among the ruins just north of where you begin on the beach after the crash. You can use Thieves Tools to lockpick the door directly north, or recruit Astarion and give him Thieves Tools to do it for you since he's Proficient with them.

Withers is likely the god Jergal, found inside a temple dedicated to him and possessing the ability to bring the dead back to life. Withers opposes the Dead Three and empowers the party to ensure the plot of the Absolute fails without directly interfering in mortal matters.

When the wither has successfully spawned, it is angered and creates an explosion around itself. Like all other hostile mobs, the wither despawns when the difficulty is changed to Peaceful. Building the wither spawning structure in Peaceful difficulty does not spawn anything.

Whether you fail or succeed the roll to pickpocket doesn't matter; he never reacts to it. That means free infinite reclassing and resurrecting. Also, Withers is his middle name.

Your new eye gives you +1 on intimidation, but a disadvantage on perception checks and attacks against hags. Perception is an important stat in Baldur's Gate 3, so it depends on whether or not your party can pick up the slack or not.

Once you take a long rest, your party will retire to their wilderness camp. After you free him, Withers will then appear at your camp whenever you take a long rest. Speak to him and he will be equally cryptic about his true motives and methods, but he will also offer a valuable service.

His only goal was to see their faces, so he can find them at camp later to offer further assistance. Jergal, a god of the dead, awaits the player in camp. He is bound by the judgment of another god - Helm - to assist the players as penance for past crimes.

How do you recruit withers in BG3? ›

Once you unlock Withers at your camp, either by completing the BG3 Dank Crypt dungeon or just by waiting it out, you'll be able to pay the mysterious man to recruit an extra pair of hands to help out.

If you fail to get Withers at this point, he will show up to your camp randomly seeking to join you. But choosing to get him right away is smart, as he's quite useful.

Although not a companion in of himself, the enigmatic Withers is an incredibly important (and entirely missable) NPC to have in the game.

If you don't free him, he'll free himself at some point after the player defeats the gargoyles protecting the first bell. Either way you'll find him in the Firelink Shrine waiting in front of Anastacia of Astora. If you did free and talk to him, he'll give you a Sunlight Medal as a reward.
